Copyright and Licensing
International Journal of Animal and Wildlife Research (IJAWR)
Copyright Ownership
Authors retain copyright in their original scholarly work unless otherwise required by applicable law, funder or institutional requirements, or a separate written agreement.
Publication in the International Journal of Animal and Wildlife Research (IJAWR) does not transfer copyright ownership from the authors to IJAWR or its publisher, unless otherwise specified in an applicable written agreement.
License to Publish
Upon acceptance and publication, authors grant IJAWR and its publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, reproduce, distribute, communicate, display, archive, preserve, and maintain the article as part of the scholarly record.
This license also permits IJAWR to maintain the published Version of Record and associated publication metadata, including the DOI and other persistent identifiers.
Creative Commons License
Unless otherwise stated, IJAWR articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
CC BY 4.0 permits others to share, reproduce, adapt, and build upon published work, including for commercial purposes, provided appropriate attribution is given, a link to the license is included, and any changes are indicated.
Text and Data Mining
Because IJAWR articles are published under CC BY 4.0, they may also be used for text and data mining, including research and analytical tools, subject to the same attribution requirements as other uses under the license. Such activities may include analyzing published animal research, wildlife survey results, biodiversity information, and conservation studies, subject to applicable legal, ethical, privacy, and data-protection requirements.
Funder and Institutional Compliance
The CC BY 4.0 license used by IJAWR is intended to support common open-access requirements established by research funders and institutions, including those associated with Plan S and similar open-access mandates.
Third-Party Material
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use third-party copyrighted material wherever required.
Third-party material may include photographs of animals or wildlife, illustrations, maps, datasets, charts, field images, and other copyrighted content. Such material may be subject to separate copyright or licensing terms and is not automatically covered by the CC BY 4.0 license. Appropriate attribution and permission requirements must be observed.
Authors should also ensure that the publication or reuse of wildlife photographs, research datasets, and related materials does not violate applicable privacy, access, conservation, or research-permission requirements.
Publication and Licensing Agreement
Upon acceptance, the corresponding author is responsible for completing the applicable IJAWR Publication and Licensing Agreement and confirming that the necessary rights, permissions, and author approvals have been obtained.
The agreement establishes the applicable copyright and licensing arrangements for publication.
Version of Record
The final article published by IJAWR constitutes the Version of Record (VoR) and represents the official published version of the article.
IJAWR may make reasonable technical, formatting, accessibility, metadata, and preservation changes necessary to maintain the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of the published scholarly record.
Governing Law
This policy and the associated Publication and Licensing Agreement are governed by the laws of India.
